While I’m at it …

IAB AustraliaI may as well comment on Australia’s Q3/07 online market too, from the IAB Australia report which was out last week.  Online advertising across the ditch grew by 32% in Q3 compared to the same quarter in 2006, reaching a record total of A$347m.  The Aussie IAB reckons the market size will reach $1.4B for the full 2007 calendar year.  In the past three years that market grew by an average of 60% per year but there are predictions the boom days are over.

Interestingly Finance, Computers & Communications and Motor Vehicles dominate general display advertising comprising over 50% of display adspend whereas in NZ, Travel & Accommodation leads the category list in this quarter.

Q1 & Q2 Adspend

I should have posted on this months ago … the IAB and PricewaterhouseCoopers have compiled a report on online advertising spend based on actual audited figures supplied by the New Zealand online publishing community. These results are based on actual media spend, not ratecard.

New Zealand’s online spend for the half of the ‘07 calendar year was $57.6m.

Here’s the split for Q1/07:

And the Q2/07 result:

IABQ22007

Online display advertising grew by 49.7% between quarters, unsurprising given the normally soft holiday season falling in Q1. It will be interesting to compare like-quarters when results are released next year.

Blam Blam BlamOver at The Wellingtonista, there’s a banquet of Awards to be voted on. Yup, you guessed it. It’s the Second Annual Wellingtonista Awards which have been running for, ummm, two years. And the categories are … here. So please vote.

And Blam Blam Blam is playing at the Awards night on 6th December. The Downtown Community Mission will be the big winner on the night with donations, and an auction, to raise money for this worthy cause.

The Wellingtonista & Public Address elves have been burning the midnight email so congratulations to all the organisers. You are all rockstars - may your bosses never audit your inboxes! And a big congrats to Ponoko and Freeview for their insightful sponsorship.

It was good to see some of my personal favourites (such as Mojo, Elements, Scopa, Citron) in the nominations. Make sure you vote for yours.

The Xmas Party Incident

The Interactive Advertising Bureau is planning their Xmas Party for Wellington. It will be at Boulot, with Uncle Monkey, on Tuesday, 11th December. This will be seriously invite only, unlike our thoroughly enjoyable Thirsty Thursdays. I understand tickets are coming out soon so make sure you’re a member of the IAB to attend.

Crap.

My blog has been fixed by the very clever Andrew Garrett. Apparently my hosting peeps decided to move something in the database. Unfortunately that means I now need to write stuff. Watch this space - I’m feeling revived.
