Blog Competition
To have a little fun, I’ve bought a Google Adwords campaign and am running an online competition. Enter by clicking through the advert if you see it and posting a comment. The competition finishes at midnight on the 24th June 2007.
On the 25th June, I will randomly select a name from those who have commented on this post (amplify.co.nz/…/blog-competition) and respond to their email address as provided with the posted comment. The questions I will ask that person to answer correctly are: “what is the exact prize advertised on the advert and which site did you see it on?” Get those two questions right and the prize is yours. Get them wrong and I keep the prize.
The judge’s (that’s me) decision is final. Please do not mention the prize or site in your comment. Good luck.

Well, I found the first advert and clicked through just fine. Let the games begin.
May 24th, 2007 at 8:52 am
That was easy.
May 24th, 2007 at 9:29 am
Nice work, Andrew. I wasn’t sure if people would ‘get it’, so your entry is reassuring. 17 impressions overnight (2 clicks, total:14c) but only one entry. People are scared of winning. Good prize, huh.
May 24th, 2007 at 9:56 am
You may be first Andrew, But I know where MG keeps his hidden coin stash.
May 24th, 2007 at 9:58 am
This is even better than that time I found that board game Jumanji up in the attic.
May 24th, 2007 at 11:58 am
Is the prize new or second-hand?
May 24th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
The pressure!
May 24th, 2007 at 1:58 pm
heh, found it. Clever clogs.
May 24th, 2007 at 2:00 pm
And the time difference between my 2 comments doesn’t indicate that I spent 22 minutes finding it, more that I spent 22 minutes outside with small black bitch.
May 24th, 2007 at 2:16 pm
You guys are on to it. I’m now changing some key words to make it a little harder. 80 impressions, 7 clicks, $1.89. I’m paying too much.
May 24th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
I have to admit, I clicked twice. I owe you 14 cents.
May 24th, 2007 at 3:49 pm
That had better not be the [Ed: beep] you got for xmas MG!
I found it. Count me in!
May 24th, 2007 at 4:41 pm
Too easy
May 24th, 2007 at 8:51 pm
Still easy - but you need more than 10 clicks to get you on page 1 in google.
May 24th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
Despite being the thickest person on two legs I eventually found it. Yay me
May 25th, 2007 at 8:44 am
Im in!
May 25th, 2007 at 9:28 am
Yesterday it was easy. My name or the blog name worked. Or Xero, Fronde or Kiwiblog plus a couple of random others. Spent $3.84 for 2794 impressions and 21 clicks. 18c per click is still too expensive. Today it’s the name of a female blogger and a few assorted random words for fun.
May 25th, 2007 at 9:36 am
Easy Peasy
Don’t you have enough to do MG?
May 25th, 2007 at 2:31 pm

May 26th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
Got it. I like this competition.
May 26th, 2007 at 2:03 pm
Should I click through for all the ones I find, therefore costing you more cents?
May 26th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Feel free, Martha. Thanks for the awesome link too. Tomorrow’s clue is the day the Allied forces landed on Gallipoli. Won’t work until tomorrow morning.
May 28th, 2007 at 9:12 am

You need to make it harder, I just found two more
June 14th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
As many as you like. Don’t say I don’t listen to my audience. I’m pausing ‘femtocell’ and ‘WCDMA’ and picking tough phrases like marlborough sounds from now on.
June 14th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
Man, I’d better win. I’m spending too much time on vanity searches - and not my own!
June 15th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Haha you got me with that one, literally! Wonder how long it was there before I found it..
June 15th, 2007 at 11:46 pm

June 16th, 2007 at 8:35 am
Liv, ego-surfing on a Friday night is just plain wrong. It was there for a week. I wonder who will be next? Jessi?
June 19th, 2007 at 9:03 am
OoOh I got another one! Right.. back to work.
June 19th, 2007 at 11:00 am
Michael, you are possibly the first known NZ case of SNOS (social networking overdose syndrome). Anyone with their own: blog, facebook, myspace and flickr sites… didn’t play with enough crayons at kindergarten!
June 19th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
Happy blogging!
June 20th, 2007 at 4:18 pm
Ha, gottit!
June 25th, 2007 at 12:21 pm

June 26th, 2007 at 8:30 am
26th june: que pasa???? really mg, this is no longer a matter of “swiss timing”. was the [prize] just bait to drive traffic?
June 26th, 2007 at 12:12 pm
Blog comp announced after the drawn ‘number’ correctly emails back with answers to the two test questions. Check your email! I’m waiting for a response … how long should I leave it?
June 27th, 2007 at 9:00 am
And the winner is …. Mike Rishworth who correctly answered the two test questions.
Here’s his email from San Diego:
Hi, delayed reply, in San Diego right now.
1. ipod nano
2. google.com keyword “cable car challenge” 18 June
Cheers, Mike Rishworth from Gisborne.
Well done Mike. Choose your favourite colour and it’s on its way.
June 27th, 2007 at 10:23 am
Thanks to everyone who entered. I hope you enjoyed the challenge. Martha - your ten entries were all counted in the draw but there can be only one winner from the random number generator - no. 54. For the record, 69 clicks cost NZ$0.21ea, total cost for the campaign of $14.45. Plus the iPod.
May 21st, 2009 at 7:43 am
