About
My name is Michael Gregg. Welcome to my blog - I hope you enjoy the articles and random posts. I’m a bit slack at regular posts; I think blogging should be a winter hobby …
Anyway, some more about me. Most people call me MG. I’m an advertising guy, businessman, a diver, mad on trout fishing with a fly and a proud Wellingtonian. I chair the Board of the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau), am a member of the Institute of Directors and have a business history spanning many facets of the advertising and digital industries.
I am a past-chair of Young IT Professionals, Unlimited Potential and past-board member of the Wireless Data Forum. I’m a regular speaker, awards judge and industry commentator. Check dontwasteagoodrecession.com for content from my last presentation to the Marketing Association.
I’ve been working for Trade Me in Wellington, New Zealand as Advertising Director since September 2007. This is a real buzz.
In early 2006, I returned to the advertising industry as Interactive Director for Clemenger BBDO, after a five-year stint as founding Chief Executive of Wellington telecommunications technology company, MediaLab (now Harmonic and under private ownership). Prior to all that, I spent a decade in advertising, managing the Wellington clients of a multinational ad agency, following the establishment and subsequent sale of my own agency.
At MediaLab, I got to work closely with local telecommunications & IT companies undertaking research initiatives that gave me a keen understanding of emerging mobile and broadband technology trends. Now I get to apply this knowledge to marketing communications in an increasingly digital world. ‘Interactive’ is the sweet spot between ICT & advertising. Perfect.
